Castles
Project week in Wales set off at a cracking pace as we forged towards Chepstow and Raglan castles. By mid afternoon we were enjoying a delicious home made tea at Alfie’s grandmothers and had a great time in the pool. Over the next few days the children had a wonderful time exploring all the nooks, crannies and deep tunnels of castles set in the most dramatic landscapes. At Perriswood Archery there was a tense shoot out between two teams with Lizzie Atkinson pulling it off for team A with her fine shooting. As the week progressed tension mounted as the children prepared themselves for the highlight of the week-the ghost tour. With much bravado the children disappeared into the depths of Crag y Nos Castle and returned with exciting tales of what they has seen and heard. As the last day dawned the children were able to step back in time to 1645 when they were greeted by the servants of Colonel Prichard at Llancaiach Fawr Manor House and made herb posies to protect them from the plague. Some final parting comments on the week were- ‘it was good fun’…’I learnt a lot of new things…’everyone got on’…’it was exciting’.
