Head's Welcome

more in this section

The moment I set foot in FSM I knew it had a very special atmosphere. The school thrives on the positive values that I firmly believe in.

FSM is full of happy and purposeful children who are clearly inspired by a dedicated team of staff sharing a wonderful sense of community. We welcome day children from ages 3 to 13 and boarders from the age of 8. Our beautiful grounds on the edge of the New Forest provide us with many opportunities to enhance our academic curriculum and develop our sense of community. The school is near the town of Fordingbridge in Hampshire, easily accessible from Salisbury, Bournemouth and Southampton.

I believe that children at FSM certainly get the best start in life. An FSM education is unique and all of us encourage each child to aspire to achieve their best within the school’s broad curriculum. We teach a wide range of subjects in small classes, combining our solid academic grounding with a full programme of sporting and extra-curricular activities.

The key to all of this is the school’s clear philosophy that ‘Happy Children Succeed.’ This success is seen in the classroom, on the sports field, in the music department and particularly during our annual project week. When exploring this site you will gain a sense of what our children achieve and the different types of experiences they have enjoyed, which helps them to mature into confident, successful, sensitive and happy individuals.

FSM is proud of its academic and scholarship record, which is supported by an innovative Able Child Programme and our Learning Centre which guides those children who learn differently.

I am extremely proud of our website, which is full of information about our school and its community. I hope that you will be encouraged by what you see in these pages to contact us for a prospectus. Better still, why not come and see the school in action - I guarantee you will be sure of a warm welcome from happy children and friendly hard-working staff.

Mark Hartley, Headmaster.
