WHAT IS THE FOSM COMMITTEE?
Friends of Forres Sandle Manor (FOSM) is a committee made up of parents and staff to promote friendships throughout the school community, and to raise money either for items that fall outside the school budget or to contribute to expensive items.
FOSM organises a number of social events throughout the year for parents, children and staff. Any surplus of funds raised is used to purchase items for the benefit of the children. Purchases include play equipment outside, sound systems in the DHH and co-funding the Iron Age roundhouse. Further projects are in hand.
Our programme of events follows a similar pattern each year. Details are on the school website.
FOSM hosts a Drinks Reception in September so that parents can meet and mingle with friends old and new, to the accompaniment of music by the children.
Fireworks Night at school comes with sausages from the barbecue and mulled wine. The highlight is an excellent view of the professional fireworks display on the playing field.
FOSM Night concludes the Autumn Term with an amazing evening of entertainment organised by the Music Department, which is a showcase for the depth of talent of the older children, together with a light supper and a licensed bar.
The Spring Term events begin with Quiz Night, a light-hearted, sociable evening with a licensed bar. Teams of eight compete for the highly prized cup ... or the wooden spoon. FOSM also runs a bar at the School Play.
In the Summer Term FOSM helps with the Summer Soiree, and runs a very popular Pimms refreshments tent on Sports Day.
In addition, class reps try to arrange a play date for each new child with another child in their year to help ease first day nerves.
We could not raise funds without the backing of parents at our events, and we would like to thank everyone for their support. FOSM welcomes all feedback from events, and suggestions not only for the spending of FOSM funds, but also for any events that you would like to put forward. We always welcome new members.
