Friends of Sandle Manor – FOSM

Friends of Sandle Manor (FOSM) are a voluntary social and fundraising committee made up of parents and staff. The Committee aims to foster social links within the School and to enhance the school experience for a broad cross-section of children.

As well as organising social events, the Committee is responsible for identifying, funding and delivering projects for the benefit of the school community out with the scope of the Educational Trust.

Traditionally FOSM has organised, or contributed to, events throughout the school year. These normally follow a pattern but with different themes. In recent years these have been:

Autumn term

Fireworks Display

A first-class display has been professionally supplied by a local firm for many years. All pupils, staff, families and friends are welcome to come and enjoy the show, hot food and drink as well as a variety of interesting glowing toys!

FOSM Night

Held early in December, this event marks the real start of the Christmas season! This is the showcase event of the year for all the performers and staff. This evening is focussed on the parents and families of children in Years 6 to 8 and begins with a welcome drink in the Main School followed by a meal and a variety performance of every imaginable flavour in the DHH.

Father Christmas visits the youngest FSM pupils

The FOSM Committee is very proud of our connections and each year we assist Father Christmas when he visits nursery to year 3. This alone ensures that the Committee remain on the “nice list”!

Spring term

Quiz Night

The DHH becomes the ‘Dudley Hill Arms’ for the evening and teams of 8 – 10 compete for a range of prizes. The quality of the team names may raise a groan but the standard and breadth of knowledge is always high. This is a very friendly and informal evening which normally includes both the FOSM bar and outside catering.

Lower School Coffee Morning

Many of the FOSM social events take place in the evening which may be difficult for Lower School parents and so each year the FOSM Committee makes a special effort to include the parents of the younger pupils. The Easter Bunny is given extra support by FOSM during the Lower School Easter Egg hunt after which FOSM hosts a coffee morning for the parents.

Summer term

Sports Day

FOSM is proud to contribute to the atmosphere of celebration by providing some outside support in the form of food and drink. In the past this has included a coffee stand, Bubbly Bar (serving cold drinks and Prosecco) and a hog roast. All of which is intended to take the pressure of those family and friends attending the day.
