Year 9 Take on Exmoor: Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Adventure Begins!
Our amazing Year 9 pupils embarked on their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition this weekend in the beautiful – and often challenging – landscape of Exmoor. Spirits were high as rucksacks were shouldered and maps unfolded.
Exmoor
Day 1 was no walk in the park. Our DofE pupils tackled a long, tough route across the moors, navigating through the heat, and the occasional boggy patch. But despite the challenges, every single one showed resilience and teamwork – and the reward was clear in their tired but proud faces as they reached camp.
On the second day, it was time to shake off the aches. And they’re off!!! The second day started strong, with tired bodies quickly replaced by grinning faces as the group headed out for a morning sea kayaking session – a definite highlight and a well-earned treat.
With just one leg left – and yes, it’s mostly uphill – the teams had a quick, fun relay to boost morale and shake off any last bits of tiredness before the final push. We couldn’t be prouder of their determination and positive spirit throughout.
Well done, Year 9 – you’re showing what DofE is all about!
