Christmas at school during Advent is always a busy and exciting time. Nativity plays and carols fill the air, and classrooms sparkle with glitter and festive creativity. Amid the excitement of presents and Father Christmas, the Pre Prep Christingle service provides a still point of calm to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
Children made their own Christingles in class, learning what each element represents – the orange, the candle, the ribbon, and the sweets and fruits. Later, we gathered in the beautifully panelled Front Hall, sitting in a circle by the fire and under the Christmas tree, to hear the Christmas story.
As the candles were lit, the children learned about Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus, and the symbolism of The Light of the World – a reminder that light can shine even in the darkest times.
Here are some of the photographs from this year’s service.
