What a privilege it was to hear our young soloists’ perform this evening. An appreciative and enthusiastic audience gathered in the Music Room for a wonderful concert by FSM’s musical rising stars. A short programme note was read before each performance, which is certainly no mean feat given the technical vocabulary and challenging foreign words and names our readers had to navigate. The repertoire spanned several hundred years, from Scarlatti to Pearl Jam and Piazzola to Giordani. Each performer captivated the audience and it was a genuine delight to sit back and appreciate the children’s musical talents and the obvious hard work that they put into their music making. It was inspiring and I couldn’t have been prouder of each and every one of them. Mrs Cochand’s beautiful photographic portraits are a wonderful memory of such a special evening.
