Reception Trip
Our Reception class recently had an unforgettable adventure at Nunton Dairy Farm, and we couldn’t wait to share the dairy-filled excitement with you!
The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the fantastic milk dispensing machine right in the heart of the village. Our curious pupils had the chance to roll up their sleeves and try their hand at operating it. Their eyes lit up with wonder as they watched the creamy white liquid flow into the waiting bottles, a fascinating introduction to the world of dairy farming!
But that was just the beginning. Our budding agriculturalists were then treated to an insightful tour of the dairy farm. Led by the gracious Mr Martin, the proud owner of Nunton Dairy, they embarked on a journey to explore the intricacies of dairy farming and even had the opportunity to walk with some of the wonderful young cows.
Our little learners were introduced to breeds and learned about the important roles these gentle giants play in bringing us the delicious milk we enjoy. It was a real “moo-tastic” experience!
As they wandered through the farm, Mr Martin explained how he prepares food for the cows during the winter months. The children were fascinated by the process of creating silage, a crucial part of ensuring the cows stay healthy and well-fed year-round.
In addition to all the fun and learning, our young adventurers also discovered the importance of hand hygiene in a livestock environment. Mr. Martin stressed the significance of cleanliness when handling animals, leaving our students with a newfound appreciation for the care and attention required on a dairy farm.
The day was filled with laughter, discovery, and a whole lot of fresh air. Our Reception class had an absolute blast, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr Martin for his warm hospitality and for sharing his knowledge with us.
As our little ones returned to school, their heads were buzzing with stories of their dairy farm adventure. We hope that this experience will stay with them for a long time, fostering an appreciation for the hard work and dedication that go into producing the milk and dairy products we enjoy every day.
We look forward to more exciting outings and educational experiences that will continue to enrich our students’ lives and inspire a lifelong love for learning.
